named Jim and Connie Prenger as the entertainment for the Palace
Theatre on Thursday afternoon, September 4, at 2:00. As with all
Festival entertainment, this performance is free to the public.
The Prengers currently reside in
Minster, Ohio and provide a show that combines comedy, energy
and a deep-rooted love of traditional American music.
Professionally they have performed with Reba McEntire, Tom T.
Hall, Ricky Skaggs, George Jones, Janie Fricke, Tammy Wynette,
Lee Greenwood, Dottie West, The Judds, at county fairs
throughout the Midwest.
Jim Prenger recorded his first
album, Dive Bar Stars, in December of 1980. That album caught
the attention of a Nashville producer who produced their second
album Back To Where We Started. A single from that album, “Blue
Eyes Crying in the Rain”, received national play.
Although they both currently
maintain other jobs – he sells tractors, she is a promotion
director – their dreams are set for Nashville as the Prengers
are currently working on a third album of all original
selections. |

Jim recorded his first album, "Dive Bar Stars," in December of 1980.
From this album came the song, "Sweetest Country Music," which caught
the attention of producer and arranger, Bill Walker, of Music Mill
Studio, Nashville, Tennessee. Walker produced and arranged for Eddie
Arnold, Donna Fargo, Statler Brothers, and all CMA Award Shows.
Walker produced Jim and Connie's second album titled, "Back To Where We
Started." From this album came a Fred Rose Classic with a modern
country arrangement, "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain." It was later
released as a single and received national play.
The Prenger's musical careers were formed during their school days. Jim
learned to play the guitar on an old Spanish flat-top. He performed
solo in high school playing mostly folk music. His first ban experience
came at the age of 14 when he joined a rock group. While in college,
Ohio State University, Jim majored in voice and sang mostly Bob Dylan
music. He later moved to Florida for a few years, entertaining in
beachfront hotels and lounges.
Connie taught herself to play guitar when she was 12 years old. When
she was 13, the school band director talked Connie into taking up the
trombone, which she has been playing ever since. Connie majored in
marketing at Miami University and took several piano classes while in
college.
After college Jim and Connie were married and began working out harmony
together. Today, they reside in Minster, Ohio, and are currently
working on a third album of all original selections.
